Description:
The Shipping and Receiving Supervisor at Ward Manufacturing Co., Inc. manages the movement of unfinished products to outside vendors for processing. This role supervises a team of packers, coordinates daily shipping schedules, and ensures accurate documentation and timely vendor deliveries. The position also involves optimizing shipping processes, training staff, and maintaining a safe, organized shipping area to support the overall manufacturing workflow.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- ·Manage the daily tasks of packers handling unfinished product shipments.
- Develop and assign daily shipping schedules to ensure timely vendor processing and on-time deliveries.
- Prepare, package, and verify shipments for outside processing (e.g., heat treating, coating, machining).
- Track and manage vendor shipments, ensuring the timely return of processed materials.
- Communicate with vendors to confirm deliveries, resolve issues, and coordinate logistics.
- Work closely with production and purchasing teams to prioritize and schedule shipments.
- Maintain accurate records of all outgoing and incoming vendor shipments.
- Train and oversee packers, ensuring adherence to company shipping and handling processes and procedures.
- Continuously improve shipping processes to optimize efficiency and reduce errors.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shipping area while enforcing safety regulations.
- Handle product orders, receive deliveries into JobBOSS, and distribute packages within the company.
- Maintain shipping supplies through regular organization, cleaning, and cataloging.
- Oversee inventory, ensuring accuracy and timely quarterly cycle counting, reporting results to management.
- Troubleshoot and resolve shipping and inventory handling issues, collaborating with customer representatives when necessary.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- 3 years of experience in shipping/logistics, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in a leadership or supervisory role, with the ability to manage and train a team.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to optimize workflow and ensure adherence to shipping and handling standards.
- Proficiency in shipping documentation and basic data entry.
- Forklift certification or experience is a plus.
- Ability to lift and move packages up to [insert weight limit, e.g., 50 lbs]
- Fluency in Spanish is a plus
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
