What are the responsibilities and job description for the Emergency Vehicle Assembly Technician position at Ward Apparatus?
Our Assembly Team builds a fire truck from a cab and chassis and builds everything that makes it mission-ready. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working with their hands, following blueprints, and seeing a finished product roll out the door.
You’ll work as part of a team assembling mechanical and electrical components that go into custom emergency vehicles. No two builds are exactly the same -attention to detail and pride in workmanship matter here.
What You’ll Do
- Assemble truck bodies, components, and subassemblies using blueprints and schematics
- Install electrical wiring, components, and systems into emergency vehicles
- Perform basic electrical assembly tasks such as routing, terminating, and securing wiring
- Use hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment safely and efficiently
- Measure, cut, and fit materials using basic shop math
- Test assembled components and systems to ensure proper function
- Troubleshoot minor assembly issues and make adjustments as needed
- Follow safety procedures and quality standards at all times
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in mechanical assembly, electrical assembly, automotive, truck, trailer, or industrial assembly
- Ability to read and follow blueprints or schematics (training provided as needed)
- Comfortable using hand and power tools
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask
- Team-oriented, dependable, and safety-minded
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 1 years of recent experience in a related hands-on assembly or manufacturing role
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on your feet throughout the shift
- Ability to work from ladders or scaffolding when required
- Able to communicate effectively with team members and leads
Schedule
- Full-Time
- First Shift: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
- Second Shift: Monday–Thursday, 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM & Friday, 12:00 PM – 8:30 PM
