Role Description As an Optician at Warby Parker, you will provide personalized eyewear guidance and support to customers in our Grand Rapids, MI store. This is a full-time, on-site role focused on helping customers select frames and lenses that meet their prescription, lifestyle, and style preferences. You will interpret prescriptions, take accurate measurements, adjust and fit eyewear, and educate customers on lens options, coatings, and proper eyewear care. You will collaborate with optometrists and teammates to support eye exams, maintain product displays, manage orders, and ensure a smooth handoff from exam to purchase. You will also contribute to a welcoming store environment by resolving customer concerns, maintaining high service standards, and supporting Warby Parker’s community-focused mission.
Qualifications
- Clinical and technical knowledge in optics and optometry to interpret prescriptions, recommend lens options, and ensure accurate fittings.
- Strong customer service and customer satisfaction skills to build rapport, understand needs, and provide an inclusive, supportive in-store experience.
- Familiarity with eye exams and exam workflows, partnering effectively with eye care professionals and supporting patients throughout their visit.
- Previous experience as an optician or in an optical/eye care setting preferred; relevant state licensure or certification is a plus, where applicable.
- Comfort with point-of-sale systems and basic technology; ability to learn company tools and processes quickly.
- Excellent communication, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced retail environment.
