EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
Wapsie Valley School District is seeking a Special Education /Instructional Associate for the 2026/2027 school year that is passionate, organized, and collaborative.

ASSOCIATE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
● Participate in in-service training, as assigned.
● Help students master equipment or instructional materials assigned by the teacher.
● Alert the teacher to any problem or special information about an individual student.
● Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teachers.
● Operate and care for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes.
● Know emergency procedures for the building and classrooms in the assigned building.
● Perform other job related duties as assigned.
● Manages attendance for the purpose of ensuring they are in compliance with teacher directives.
● Monitors students during classes to provide a safe and positive learning environment.
● Assists students with academic, behavioral, and organizational needs if needed
● Creates a classroom environment that is structured and conducive to learning
● Creates a classroom environment of respect & collaboration

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Education and Licensure:

● High School Diploma

Knowledge and Skills:
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills
● Demonstrates strong organizational skills
● Can manage student needs & behaviors

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates will need to be able to communicate effectively, operate a computer, and/or complete normal office tasks.

EVALUATION:
The staff member will report to the principal.
