What are the responsibilities and job description for the Office Administrator position at Wapping Community Church?
Wapping Community Church (WCC) is looking for an office administrator. The position is part time, typically 5 hours per day Monday - Friday at our church in South Windsor, CT. We currently expect the work day to be 9am - 2pm and are flexible if needed by the right candidate. While a minimum of 25 hours per week will be the norm, there will be times throughout the church year where the office administrator will be expected to work additional hours in support of upcoming church events.
The primary responsibilities of this role include:
- Provide administrative support to Wapping’s Senior Minister
- Greet visitors to the church office, answer the telephone and review incoming mail (electronic and hard copy); address requests for service or information
- Maintain office supplies and equipment; liaison to equipment and church facility maintenance and repair vendors
- Prepare the weekly church bulletin, monthly Parish Post newsletter and congregation-wide emails
- Maintain the church email database and system, church website, and coordinate with volunteers responsible for the church member and donation database
- Maintain church electronic filing system
- Coordinate church classroom, gymnasium and meeting room rentals; assure rental paperwork and rental schedules are clearly defined. Review rental payment records and identify missing/late payments to WCC property committee
- Track and post to the online church calendar all church events, including worship services, committee meetings, weddings, funerals, baptisms, facility room rentals and other applicable activities
- Coordinate church office volunteer tasks
We anticipate the position beginning on July 1, 2026 and are flexible on that start date.
The successful candidate will have 3 or more years experience in small office administrative management, current office information technology and computer skills (Google Workspace, Microsoft Office), experience in developing effective written communications, and a demonstrated ability to juggle the successful completion of both short-term and longer-term requests and assignments.
