Veterinary Technician - Full Time
Wantage Veterinary Hospital is seeking a Full Time Veterinary Technician. CVT certification not required but preferred. Must have surgery experience. We are a privately owned, one doctor practice and are looking for someone who wants to be part of our family. We are all dedicated, passionate and bring unique qualities to this practice. Applicants must have a strong work ethic, preserve a positive personality, be capable of communicating effectively and be able to multi-task efficiently. We are a great group of people that have a lot of fun working with each other. Our energy is upbeat and we support each other at all times.
Hours needed: Monday/Friday 7:45am - 5:00pm, Tue/Thurs 7:45am -7:00pm. Every other Saturday once our office opens again on the weekends.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (including but not limited to):previous experience or training/ education in a veterinary facility is a must; must be friendly, outgoing, “people oriented”; excellent communication skills; must be capable of being cross-trained for front office receptionist duties, telephone and computer skills are necessary; must be a team player willing to learn new techniques and treatments and to accept change.
Medical Related Skills: phlebotomy, IV catheter placement, preparing and restraining animals during procedures, anesthetic induction, anesthetic monitoring, assisting in surgery, wound care, and advising pet owners on proper care, etc.
Qualities: takes initiative, commitment to the needs of the hospital, commitment to work schedule, willingness to teach others and be taught by others, openness to diversity, adaptability to change, accountability, professionalism, self-starter.
Duties (including but not limited to):demonstrate excellent relations with client/ pets in exam rooms, exceed the client’s expectations of service, compassionate care is the top priority for all patients, ability to recognize potential patient issues, clearly communicate your findings to a doctor, record keeping, fill prescription and dispense medications as prescribed by the doctor, etc.
Education and Physical Requirements: High school education, dependable attendance is required, must be able to lift 40 pounds, as well as the ability to walk, bend, stand or reach constantly.
