Emergency Medical Technician - Pine Ridge, SD

WANDER STAFFING seeks to add one (8) full-time EMTs to support the Pine Ridge Service Unit's Emergency Medical Services program. EMTs will provide 24/7 emergency response, interfacility transport, and Basic Life Support services throughout the Pine Ridge Reservation and surrounding service areas.

Primary Work Location: EMTs will be based at Pine Ridge Hospital, 607 Indian Health Service Road, Pine Ridge, SD 57770. EMTs will provide emergency medical services throughout the Pine Ridge Service Unit, including responses and interfacility transports involving Kyle Health Center, Wanblee Health Center, LaCreek IHS Clinic, and locations across the Pine Ridge Reservation and surrounding areas, as operationally required.

Pay:

• $52/hour

Schedule: 12-hour shifts

• Days, nights, weekends, and holidays
• Typical shifts include:
  • 0600–1800
  • 0700–1900
  • 1800–0600
  • 1900–0700
  • Mid-shifts as needed

Anticipated Start Date:

• 6/1/26, following contract award, background investigation, and credentialing.

Duration of Contract:

• 5 year with options to extend
• Note: The duration of the contract is between the government and us. Like any other job, if life means you must leave, you give us a 60-day notice

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 12 months of EMT experience
• Current EMT certification
• Ability to obtain and maintain South Dakota EMT licensure
• Current BLS
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to pass federal background and fingerprint screening
• Ability to meet IHS credentialing requirements before starting work

Preferred Qualifications:

• 911 EMS experience
• Rural EMS
• Critical access hospitals
• Tribal healthcare
• Military medic experience
• Wildland fire EMS
• High-volume ambulance services

Duties:

• Respond to 911 emergency calls
• Provide Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Assess and stabilize patients
• Transport patients safely to appropriate medical facilities
• Perform interfacility transfers
• Assist Emergency Department staff when assigned
• Document all patient care accurately
• Operate and maintain ambulances
• Restock medical equipment and supplies
• Perform daily vehicle inspections
• Follow South Dakota EMS protocols and IHS policies.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Candidates should be comfortable with:
• Patient assessment
• Airway management
• Oxygen administration
• CPR
• AED use
• Trauma care
• Medical emergencies
• Pediatric patients
• Geriatric patients
• Obstetric emergencies
• Behavioral health emergencies
• Documentation in electronic medical records
• Interfacility transports
• Medical evacuations when required.

Vehicle Responsibilities

• EMTs are expected to:
• Drive emergency vehicles safely
• Complete vehicle inspections
• Clean and decontaminate ambulances
• Refuel vehicles
• Restock supplies after every transport
• Maintain readiness for immediate response.
