Wampum Hardware Co (WHC) is seeking to hire a full-time Safety Representative. We are seeking an individual with experience in safety to join our team. This position is based out of New Galilee, PA but will include travel to our other locations. The ideal candidate will be willing to learn, provide guidance to managers and field workers alike, and ensure compliance with all federal, state and local regulations.

ABOUT THE CAREER
As a Safety Representative, you will:
- Engage with employees to understand their roles and challenges
- Promote a safe work environment
- Ensure compliance with laws and regulations
- Identify and mitigate workplace hazards
- Investigate incidents and prevent reoccurrence
- Conduct safety training and presentations
- Develop and enforce health and safety policies and government regulations
- Manage compliance reporting and record-keeping
- Manage DOT and non-DOT drug programs
Success in this role requires: communication, computer skills, time management skills and the ability to work independently.
This is a Safety Sensitive position.
Work Environment
- Much of your time will be indoors but we also work in the field: rain or shine, mud or dust, hot or cold.
- You will be expected to wear required PPE when on job sites.
- You will travel over a multi-state area and will occasionally be required to stay overnight in a hotel.
- You will need to follow operating procedures and comply with all regulatory requirements.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job:
- You will frequently walk, stand and bend (neck & waist), and twist (neck & waist) on uneven, rough terrain.
- Occasionally squat, climb and kneel.
- Sit and use your dominate hand and non-dominate hand and various motions.
- Occasional lift 60 lbs.

Qualifications
- Pass a DOT physical
- Pass a drug test
- Be able to obtain an ATF clearance within 90 days of employment
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Must pass a criminal background and motor vehicle records check
- Understanding of legal health and safety guidelines
- Knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment
- Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability
- Ability to train adult students
- Verbal and written communication skills
- You must be physically, mentally, and emotionally capable of conducting inspections and investigations
- Documentation and writing skills to write legally defensible reports using a variety of media
- You must be able to maintain effective relationships with all levels of the business
- Ability to relocate within 30 miles of New Galilee, PA
Preferred Experience
- Experience in a mine or construction safety position.
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety or related field
- MSHA Part 48 surface and underground trainer
- OSHA 1910 and 1926 knowledge
- FMCSA regulations knowledge
- HAZMAT knowledge
- ATF knowledge
- PHMSA knowledge
- DHS knowledge
