What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facilities Seasonal Laborer - Grounds Crew (Public Works) position at Walworth County?
Normal operating hours for the Public Works Department are Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. with the possibility of working outside of this schedule to meet the work demands. The expectation is that this position will work 20 - 40 hours per week. This is a limited term position with the expectation of working no more than 1200 hours in a year.

Perform basic landscape and lawn care duties, such as mowing designated areas; planting trees, shrubs, flowers and grass seed; manual weed removal and pruning.
Assist with basic facilities operations, such as special event set-ups, office moves, and other general labor activities.
Clean buildings and restrooms and stock facilities as required.
Operate various light machinery and equipment.
Repair, maintain, paint and/or stain park buildings, structures, signs and equipment.
Remove garbage, litter and debris from buildings, parking lots and grounds.
Show respect and be willing to assist the public.
Perform other duties as required.
Demonstrate a commitment to county safety and risk management efforts.
Qualified candidates will have completed a minimum of three years of high school and must possess a valid drivers license with a good driving record. Experience with commercial grade landscaping equipment is preferred.Candidates should possess the following Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions with minimal direct supervision.
- Ability to communicate effectively and exercise good judgment, courtesy, and tact when dealing with the general public.
- Ability to operate County vehicles in a safe and defensive manner.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working and public relations with co-workers, the public, vendors, and outside agencies.
- Prompt and regular attendance is essential.
