Responsibilities
- Safely operate a variety of commercial trucks such as tractor-trailers in accordance with DOT (Department of Transportation) and state transportation regulations.
- Load and unload techniques while adhering to safety , ensuring timely pickups while maintaining traffic law compliance.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections and perform minor mechanical troubleshooting to ensure optimal truck performance.
- Maintain accurate logs of daily routes, load details, and service records in compliance with safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Communicate professionally with dispatchers and customers to coordinate deliveries or pickups and address any service issues promptly.
- Adhere strictly to hazardous materials regulations when handling special waste streams and ensure safety protocol adherence at all times.
Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for air brakes and manual transmission operation.
- Proven experience operating heavy-duty vehicles tractor-trailers in a commercial setting.
- Strong knowledge of traffic laws, DOT regulations, hazardous materials regulations, and safety procedures related to commercial truck driving.
- Mechanical aptitude for basic vehicle maintenance checks and troubleshooting mechanical issues.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting regularly and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Excellent customer service skills with a professional attitude when interacting with clients or community members.
- Prior experience in solid waste management or municipal waste collection is highly desirable.
