About the Role
Walton Electric Inc is seeking a hands-on Civil Superintendent to support the installation and site development of Direct Current Fast Charging (DCFC) EV charging stations. This role is ideal for a field-oriented professional with a strong civil background who thrives in a working superintendent capacity — meaning you're not just managing from the sidelines, but actively working alongside your crew to get the job done right.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and perform day-to-day civil site work for DCFC charging station installations, including site prep, excavation, and final site restoration
- Operate and/or oversee operation of skid steer and mini excavator for grading, trenching, backfill, and material handling
- Set and verify grades using a grade laser to ensure proper drainage, pad elevation, and subbase prep
- Place, finish, and oversee concrete flatwork including equipment pads, curbing, and associated structures
- Coordinate and perform asphalt patching, saw cutting, and surface restoration following conduit installation
- Manage landscaping restoration including topsoil, seeding, sod, and site cleanup to meet project closeout requirements
- Enforce job site safety and ensure compliance with OSHA standards and company policies
- Maintain daily reports, material logs, and photo documentation
- Coordinate with project managers, electrical crews, and general contractors to keep civil scopes on schedule
- Manage material deliveries, equipment, and subcontractors on site
Qualifications
- 2–5 years of experience in civil construction with direct experience in concrete, asphalt, and landscaping scopes
- Hands-on proficiency operating a skid steer and mini excavator
- Experience using a grade laser for site grading and elevation control
- Familiarity with DCFC, EV infrastructure, or electrical site work is a plus — but not required; we will train the right candidate
- Ability to read site plans, grading plans, and civil drawings
- Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and lead a small crew
- Valid driver's license required; clean driving record preferred
Preferred
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- Experience with conduit trenching, utility installation, or electrical site civil work
- Concrete flatwork forming/finishing skills
- Asphalt placement/restoration skills
- Landscaping/irrigation new/restoration skills
- Familiarity with permitting and municipal inspections
