1 position Summer 2024 School STEP Up Summer STEP UP and MS ELL Program Coordinator
Overview
One Program Coordinator is needed to supervise staff and oversee the 2024 Step Up and ELL Summer Program including but not limited to: recruiting staff, student identification and enrollment, planning curriculum, scheduling, parent meetings, working with the middle school administrators, Multilingual and Title l departments around programming needs and logistics, acting as the point-person onsite for staff during operation of program, managing and overseeing staff and instruction. Preference will be given to those with a background in School Administration and culturally responsive instruction.
Focus of the Program
This program will be open to students attending Kennedy and McDevitt Middle School students who can benefit from additional academic support (rising 6, 7, 8). A subset of rising 6, 7, and 8th grade students in this program are English learners (ELD Levels 1 through 1.9). The program is expected to have a teacher student ratio of approximately 1:15. Students will be engaged in literacy and math instruction through thematic units grounded in core summer reading text with additional enrichment activities.
Terms of Employment
Program planning begins in February 2024. The program will be held Monday July 1, - Friday July 26, 2024 (excluding July 4 & 5) at both Kennedy and McDevitt Middle School. Program times for students are 9:00 am - 1:00 pm in addition to a 1 hour prep per day, for a total of (18 days).
Salary
WEA Contractual rate for hours worked up to 170 hours.
