What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assembler (2nd and 3rd shift) position at Walterscheid Powertrain Group?
Assembles parts and subassemblies at various states of assembly into torque converters, hydraulic valves, clutch packs, wet clutches and fan drives of differing sizes. Inspects parts, sub and final assemblies and test units such as fan drives, hydraulic valves, clutch packs and torque converters. Work is performed in the assembly and inspection areas of the Hydraulic Assembly Department.
- Load parts or subassemblies onto work bench, conveyors, into oven or into freezer
- Obtain part assembly dimensions and test requirements from part and assembly prints.
- Check quantities of component parts against orders to assure correct amounts.
- Use micrometers, height, OD and ID gauges to check dimensions and fit of parts
- Assemble various parts into sub-assemblies or into final assemblies as required.
- Visually check assembly work to properly fit parts together and to ensure that clean, deburred parts go into assembly.
- Make gear final inspection checking gears for damage, proper identification and fit.
- Secure assemblies in place by various means as required.
- Place assemblies on skid for inspection/transport and/or pack assemblies for storage as necessary.
- Set up hydraulic test equipment and test for pressure, temperature, RPM, torque, vibration, release/engage, flutter, gear noise, oil leaks, etc., as required.
- Check facing and tang plates for release during test.
- Record test data from gauge and dial readings.
- Record required labor information on labor sheet and/or labor entry software.
- Check and maintain calibration of gauges, flow meters and change as required.
- Check, clean and change filters (mainly oil) as required.
- Work with Manufacturing Engineering on fixtures as needed.
- Operate hoist to assist in lifting parts/assemblies as necessary.
- Operate air nozzles as necessary.
- Operate material handling equipment as necessary
- Responsible for following standard operating procedures
- Responsible for following safety rules
- Clean up work area as required.
