Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and vigilant Special Event Lifeguard to join our team and ensure the safety and well-being of all participants, officials, and spectators during swim meets, diving competitions, and other aquatic events. The ideal candidate will possess strong water rescue skills, remain calm and focused in high-energy environments, and demonstrate a strong commitment to maintaining a safe and professional atmosphere.
As a Special Event Lifeguard, you will actively monitor competition and warm-up areas, enforce safety protocols, respond to emergencies, and work closely with event staff to ensure a smooth and secure event experience for everyone.
Responsibilities
- Maintain continuous surveillance of competition and warm-up areas, including starting blocks, turns, diving boards, and platforms.
- Enforce facility and event safety rules to protect athletes, coaches, officials, and spectators.
- Respond quickly and effectively to aquatic emergencies, performing rescues and administering first aid/CPR as needed.
- Coordinate with event staff, meet management, and emergency responders during incidents.
- Conduct pre-event safety inspections of the pool, deck, rescue equipment, and emergency gear.
- Assist with deck safety, crowd control, and transitions between sessions.
- Provide excellent guest service by answering questions and maintaining a calm, professional presence.
- Accurately document and submit incident and accident reports when required.
Requirements
- Current certifications in Lifeguarding, CPR, and First Aid (American Red Cross or equivalent).
- Strong swimming and rescue skills with the ability to respond quickly in deep water.
- Previous experience lifeguarding at swim meets, diving competitions, or similar aquatic events preferred.
- Ability to remain alert and focused for extended periods in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills and a professional demeanor.
- Knowledge of competitive swimming and/or diving rules and terminology is a plus.
- Must be available for flexible scheduling, including weekends, early mornings, evenings, and multi-day events.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 1 – 12 per week
