Deli Clerk (Part Time)

Walt Churchill’s Market is looking for a Part-Time Deli Clerk for our Maumee, OH location.

Job Summary:

The Deli Clerk provides exceptional service when greeting and assisting customers at the deli counter, on the sales floor, and on the phone. Preparation, production, and cleaning are also key aspects.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers promptly, answering questions, and assisting with purchases
• Package, wrap, price, and merchandise Deli Department products
• Maintain product knowledge of deli case items: cold salads, dips, lunchmeats, cheeses, etc.
• Properly date items, check dates on all products to ensure freshness, and properly rotate stock
• Maintain general sanitation practices, food safety practices, and food storage practices according to store and health department standards. Cleaning duties include sweeping, mopping, cleaning surfaces, washing dishes, and more.
• Prepare most cold salads, dips, and grab-n-go items, including but not limited to: pasta salads, potato salads, coleslaw, tuna salad, grab-n-go pizzas, lettuce salads, sandwiches, wraps, and dips
• Produce some cafe/grab-n-go entrees and party trays
• Safely and effectively operate equipment such as slicers, steamers, fryers, rotisserie ovens, combi-ovens, smokers, and knives
• Put away stock in areas such as the cooler, freezer, and dry stock shelves while rotating product and maintaining organized stock areas
• Other duties may be assigned

Requirements

Required Skills & Abilities:

• Ability to communicate clearly
• Comfortable working with the public and greeting, speaking with, and assisting customers
• Attention to detail, ensuring duties are completed correctly and on time

Education & Experience:

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Some previous deli or food service experience, highly preferred
• High school diploma or GED

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of standing, walking, twisting, lifting, bending, and reaching
• Occasional instances of pushing, pulling, and squatting
• Must be able to frequently lift 10-30 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
