What We’re Looking For: Walstrom Marine is looking for a Gel & Fiberglass Technician to join our Cheboygan team! While marine experience is a plus, we are happy to train individuals with a strong work ethic and the right skill set. This is a great opportunity to build a rewarding career in the marine industry with a company dedicated to your professional growth.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform painting, gelcoat, and fiberglass repairs on marine vessels to the highest standards within specified timeframes.
- Prepare surfaces by sanding, cleaning, masking, and other necessary prep work to ensure optimal adhesion and finish quality.
- Apply paint, gelcoat, and fiberglass materials using professional techniques, ensuring smooth, durable, and aesthetically pleasing results.
- Conduct wet sanding, buffing, and polishing, to achieve a flawless finish.
- Communicate effectively with Service Advisors to provide accurate diagnosis, repair recommendations, and cost estimates.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment, including regular cleaning and proper storage of tools, equipment, and materials.
- Stay current on industry standards, technical service bulletins, and new repair techniques though ongoing training and professional development.
- Document all work performed, including time, materials used, and notes on repair orders, to ensure accurate service records.
Requirements and Qualifications: Previous experience in painting, gelcoat application, and fiberglass repair, preferably in a marine or automotive environment.

Schedule:
- 8-hour shift
- Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm, Saturday availability required during summer months
- This is an in-person, on site position based out of our Cheboygan location
