Custodian - Afternoon Shift

Walsh Jesuit High School is seeking a Custodian to help to provide a safe and clean work environment for students and staff. This position plays a vital role in supporting campus operations in support of the school’s mission. and reports to the Head Custodian. Work hours are generally 3:00 pm – 10:30 pm Monday – Friday, with some overtime expected.

Essential Functions

Cleaning & Operations support

• Work to execute all aspects of building cleaning including, mopping, resilient floor care, vacuuming, dusting, deep cleaning, carpet scrubbing, window cleaning, waste removal, and other duties as assigned.
• Ensure custodial supplies are stocked for areas of responsibility and report shortages to supervisor with ample time to order replenishments.
• Keep the exterior of the building free from litter.
• Assist with event setups and tear downs.
• Respond to and complete custodial ticket requests.
• Assist with snow removal between outsourced plowing and salting
• Perform thorough building cleaning in the summer months.
• Follow appropriate OSHA safety requirements.
• Perform any task assigned by school administration as needed/requested including, on occasion, assisting other personnel in the school in the performance of their duties
• Display initiative in problem solving, be of assistance to visitors, and contribute to the school in a positive and proactive manner.
  
  
  

School-wide support

• Assist as directed with other school departments such as Advancement, Admissions, Athletics, Summer Camp, etc. for special event needs.
• Assist as directed with kitchen staff for cleaning needs.
• Communicate with the supervisor when spaces are being left unreasonably unclean to address the underlying tidiness issue.
  
  
  

Faith Formation

• Embrace, display, and support Catholic/Christian values and spiritual formation.
• Regular participation in Ignatian formation activities including the school’s formal formation program, school masses, retreats, and other activities/events as scheduled.
  
  
  

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of custodial experience preferred.
• Proficiency with resilient floor care, carpet extraction, window cleaning, and other routine cleaning tasks.
• Excellent team communication.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and work independently.
• Computer skills to respond to work orders and emails effectively and clearly.
• Embrace and display Catholic/Christian values and spiritual life.
