What are the responsibilities and job description for the Attendance Clerk position at Walnut Grove High School?
Overall Purpose
The purpose of the Attendance Clerk is to support a specified school or department by establishing and maintaining records; compiling and distributing materials and reports; and responding to inquiries from a variety of internal and external sources.
Essential Functions
- Maintains accurate daily attendance and enrollment records, including absences, tardies, and early releases.
- Generates and distributes attendance reports.
- Responds to attendance-related inquiries from students, parents, staff, and administrators.
- Verifies and processes attendance documentation, including parent notes, medical excuses, and administrative approvals.
- Monitors attendance records for accuracy and follows up on discrepancies or missing information.
- Maintains confidentiality of student records and ensures compliance with district policies and applicable regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal.
Requirements
High School Diploma or GED Certificate required.
Proficiency in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and data entry systems.
Ability to operate standard office equipment, including copiers, scanners, printers, and multi-line telephone systems.
Physical Requirements
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to10 pounds of force as needed to move objects. Generally, the job requires 60% sitting, 20% walking, and 20% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
Education/Training
Minimum three (3) years of administrative experience.
Experience with student information systems such as Infinite Campus, PowerSchool, or equivalent, preferred.
