East Holmes Local Schools is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented School Secretary to support the daily operations of the school office. This role serves as a key point of contact for students, staff, parents, and the community, while also providing administrative and accounts receivable and accounts payable support. The ideal candidate will be organized, professional, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced educational environment.
This is a full-time, Monday through Friday, 7-½ hours per day, 205 day contract. Position starts August 1, 2026.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative and clerical support to school leadership and staff
- Serve as the first point of contact for visitors, students, and parents
- Manage phone calls, correspondence, and front office operations
- Maintain accurate student and office records in compliance with school policies
- Assist with scheduling, attendance tracking, and report preparation
- Assist with lunch duties
Financial Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records, spreadsheets, filing systems, and office documentation

Assist in monitoring and maintaining building budgets

Assist staff with purchasing procedures, financial processes, and reimbursement requests

Review, verify, and Submit invoices and payment requests accurately and in a timely manner

Collect, track, deposit, and process all funds received by the school while maintaining accurate deposit records and cash accounts

Help maintain vendor files and communicate with families, vendors, and the district finance office regarding fees, billing, payments, and account information

Submit purchase requests, place orders, and help track building supply and inventory purchases

Assist with audit preparation and maintain required financial documentation in compliance with district policies and procedures

Maintain confidentiality of student, staff, and financial information

Perform other finance-related and administrative duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office, particularly Sheets/Excel and Docs/Word
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, especially with financial data
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multitask and work independently in a school environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a school secretary or in an educational setting
- Experience with accounts receivable and accounts payable, invoicing, or basic bookkeeping
- Familiarity with student information systems and school office procedures
