Overview
As a Pharmacy Technician, you’ll support pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications while helping patients receive accurate, timely service. You’ll handle prescription intake, data entry, and pharmacy software tasks, and follow established procedures for medication handling, patient care, and confidentiality. Responsibilities
- Process prescription intake, enter patient and medication information, and use pharmacy software to maintain accurate records.
- Assist with compounding medications, including IV compounding and sterile IV admixture procedures, using aseptic technique and pharmaceutical calculations as directed.
- Support medication administration workflows and provide patient service and customer service within the scope of the role.
- Follow pharmaceutical regulatory compliance requirements, state healthcare regulations, drug regulation, and state and federal pharmacy laws.
- Protect patient confidentiality and use medical and pharmacological terminology accurately when communicating with patients and care teams.
Qualifications
- Pharmacy technician experience and knowledge of patient care, medication handling, and pharmaceutical calculations.
- Familiarity with pharmacy software, data entry, intake, and maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Understanding of aseptic technique, compounding medications, IV infusion, and sterile IV admixture procedures; follow pharmacist direction and applicable procedures.
- Experience in hospital pharmacy, hospital, acute care, critical care, clinical pharmacy, community pharmacy, or long-term care (LTC) pharmacy is valued.
- Basic life support (BLS) knowledge or certification is preferred; familiarity with medication administration and applicable pharmacy laws and regulations is an asset.
Pay: $18.00 - $28.46 per hour
