General Description:
The Middle School Assistant Principal, Grades 9-12, provides instructional leadership and facilitates an
educational environment to promote positive high school experiences for all students.
Section II: Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Instructional Leadership
- Collaboratively develops, implements and sustains the school's mission vision and goals.
- Utilizes a collaborative approach to implement and evaluate standards-based curricula and
- Monitors and evaluates progress based on a variety of assessments, data systems, and accountability
strategies to close achievement gaps.
Personnel Management
- Recruits, selects, and retains highly qualified staff members.
- Supports on-going, meaningful professional development and other supports that emphasize equitable
- Engages in high quality evaluation practices that balance support and accountability.
Resource Management
- Works with district leadership to maintain educational, technological, and fiscal resources to provide

- Collaborates with district leadership in developing fiscally responsible certified and non-certified

- Maintains a consistent focus on ethical decisions, cultural competencies, social justice, and inclusive
practice for all members of the school community based on district policy and current school law.
Additional Duties
- Implements and enforces all Board of Education policies and regulations
- Oversees the operations of the building, grounds, and other school property
- Develops a comprehensive class schedule that accommodates the educational needs of all students
- Establishes and implements guidelines for proper student conduct
- Monitors and resolves problems with student attendance
- Plans and supervises fire drills and other emergency preparedness programs
- Attends special events, functions, and athletic contests
- Oversees the maintenance of student records and school activity accounts
- Collaboratively organizes, administers, and directs all student activities and school events
- Monitors the registration, assignment, promotion and/or retention of all students
- Serves on district level committees and perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of
- Advances professional learning by attending seminars and conferences

CT Department of Education 092 Intermediate Administration or Supervision
Certification Endorsement
Education 6th Year degree with a major in educational administration
