POSITION: SPECIAL EDUCATION PARAEDUCATOR

POSITION TITLE: Special Education Paraeducator
FTE: 1.0
LOCATION: Wallingford Elementary School (location of employment is subject to change based on student needs as determined by the Administration)
SUPERVISED BY: Director and Assistant Director of Student Services in collaboration with Building Principal
START DATE:August 20, 2026
BASIC FUNCTION: To provide a range of developmental, academic, and behavioral support services to eligible students under the supervision and direction of licensed personnel.
WORKS WITH: Students, Faculty, Staff & Administration
COMPENSATION: In accordance with the 2025-2028 collective bargaining agreement for Support Staff, the range of compensation for this position is from $17.84 - $26.35 per hour.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Ability to interact effectively through both written and verbal interactions with students and co-workers.
2. Ability to take direction and feedback when provided, as well as to work independently when needed.
3. Ability to implement a variety of developmental, academic, and behavioral supports under the supervision/direction of licensed personnel and administration.
4. Must possess an Associates’ Degree or the equivalent; or pass an academic competency assessment prior to hire.
5. Willingness to transport students (using district-provided vehicles and school insurance) is strongly preferred.
6. Willingness to be assigned to work amongst all campuses within the MRUUSD is required.
7. Must comply with all requirements relating to fingerprinting and criminal background checks.
8. Must possess the ability to stand for long periods of time as well as to ambulate throughout the school setting throughout the school day.
9. Must be able to go outdoors in temperatures above 10℃.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provide direct support to eligible students to meet their developmental, academic, and behavioral needs in accordance with an educational plan and supervision/direction from licensed personnel.
2. Manage behavioral challenges using positive and proactive approaches.
3. Complete district-mandated trainings, workshops, and Professional Development opportunities as directed.
4, Assist with data-collection tasks as assigned by staff.
5. Complete Medicaid billing as required.
6. Other responsibilities as assigned.
Salary : $18 - $26
