Wallflower Music Studio is a boutique piano studio offering thoughtful, individualized instruction for students ages 5 at the beginner and intermediate levels. As the studio grows, we are seeking a piano instructor to join our team.
Lessons are rooted in classical training while encouraging curiosity, creativity, and personal expression. We create a calm, supportive learning environment and are seeking an instructor who approaches teaching with care, patience, and intention. This position is well-suited for an instructor who values thoughtful pedagogy, emotional awareness, and meaningful student relationships.
This is an in-studio position based in the Catonsville/Ellicott City area.
Details
- Part-time position
- Consistent weekly teaching schedule
- Must be available during weekday afternoons/evenings ( one weekend day preferred)
- Some flexibility within established teaching days/hours
- Opportunities for growth as the studio continues to expand
Responsibilities
- Teach weekly private piano lessons to beginner and intermediate students
- Create thoughtful, individualized lesson plans
- Support students in building strong technical foundations and musicality
- Communicate clearly with parents and maintain a consistent, professional schedule
- Participate in recitals and occasional studio events
- Contribute to a calm, welcoming studio environment
- Assist with light studio upkeep (resetting materials between lessons, maintaining organization, etc.)
Qualifications
- Experience teaching piano (preferred)
- Strong foundation in classical piano technique and repertoire
- Understanding of music theory appropriate for beginner–intermediate students
- Ability to teach from method books (e.g., Faber, Alfred, or similar)
- Ability to clearly demonstrate concepts and repertoire at the student level
- Enjoy working with children and fostering a positive learning environment
- Willingness to align with the studio’s teaching philosophy and participate in training
- Reliable, organized, and communicative
