What are the responsibilities and job description for the Power Plant Operator position at Walleye Power LLC?
Under the general directive of Shift Supervision and Control Room Operators, assists employees of higher classifications and works with other employees engaged in safe and efficient operation of high pressure steam generating boilers, turbine generators and their associated auxiliary equipment. Performs a degree of maintenance and preventive maintenance on boilers, turbine-generator sets along with auxiliary and associated equipment. Operators and maintains National Pollution Discharge Elimination Systems (NPDES) equipment and to observe site equipment that can produce Title V emission violations.
-Must meet the Company's requirements as to general qualifications in accordance with the Job Manual.
-For acceptance into the Power Plant Operator line of progression, a two-year degree in Power Plant Technology or Applied Science from an accredited college or university is required. The degree must be associated with the field of endeavor applicable to fossil power plant operations. A Class III Stationary Steam Engineer's License is preferred or three years experience in a power producing utility or other process related industry, including but not limited to paper-mill industry, chemical and petroleum-chemical industries or Military experience in any branch of the United States Armed Services applicable to above. Must posses a valid driver's license.
-Must demonstrate power plant knowledge including operations, combustion, heat rate, generation and uses of steam, operation of high pressure boilers and turbines, instrumentation and applied electricity.
-Must be able to acquire basic knowledge of the mechanical, electrical, cycle chemistry and operational system of the plant and demonstrate the ability to perform mechanical, electrical, and cycle chemistry.
-Must be willing to continue to prepare for advancement to Control Room Operator.
-Must understand power plant terminology and have the ability to receive and pass on orders and instruction utilizing the Phonetic Alphabet and 3-way communication in such manner that will maintain safety and promote harmony, cooperation, and satisfactory results.
-Must have basic computer skills.
