Hourly pay range minimum is $20.20; pay based upon experience; will work 7.5 hours daily, normally work 226 days annually

Primary Purpose
Coordinate, deliver, and maintain comprehensive training programs for all transportation staff, including drivers, monitors. Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and district regulations while promoting a culture of safety and operational excellence.
Qualifications
Education/Certification:
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Texas Class B CDL with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
- Valid Texas DPS School Bus Driver Certification
- Ability to obtain TAPT Driver Trainer Academy Certification
- Certified State School Bus Driver Instructor (preferred)
- American Red Cross Instructor (CPR) Certification (preferred)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Strong organizational, recordkeeping, and data management skills
- Proficient in keyboarding and computer applications
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of school transportation laws, regulations, and safety practices
Experience:
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience driving school buses
- Clean driving record with no preventable accidents for the past three (3) years
- Prior school bus training experience (preferred)
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Training & Development
- Provide training for new hires and district personnel, including coaches
- Develop and implement in-service and refresher training programs
- Retrain staff as needed based on performance, incidents, or compliance requirements
- Respond to inquiries related to training and certification
Driver Evaluation & Performance Monitoring
- Conduct evaluations of drivers and monitors on safety procedures and driving performance
- Conduct comprehensive driving evaluations for all new hires to ensure eligibility to operate district vehicles
- Analyze accidents and incidents to design and implement targeted retraining programs
Compliance & Record Management
- Maintain and report all Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) information in compliance with FMCSA requirements
- Maintain accurate records for all CDL and non-CDL personnel
- Track and monitor expiration dates for certifications, physicals, and licenses
- Conduct annual Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and Clearinghouse checks
- Assist in preparing required reports, including TEA submissions as needed
- Stay current on laws, regulations, and best practices related to student transportation
Operations & Program Support
- Support department operations, including route coverage as needed
- Drive routes and serve as a substitute driver or monitor as needed
- Assist with data entry and general office operations
Staffing & Department Support
- Assist with recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding new employees
- Attend meetings and represent the Transportation Department as requested
- Promote and enforce high standards of safety and workplace practices
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Transportation/Assistant Director

Motion: Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; prolonged driving; moderate walking, climbing stairs, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and reaching
Lifting: Limited light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds) on a daily basis
Environment: Frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, noise, and vehicle fumes; regularly work irregular hours, and occasionally work prolonged hours
