Wallenius Wilhelmsen is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to support our Lafayette operation. This role partners closely with leaders and employees, providing hands-on HR support in a fast-paced operational environment.
The HR Generalist will serve as a key resource for employee relations, workplace investigations, attendance, onboarding, engagement, benefits, staffing, and other workforce needs.

Wallenius Wilhelmsen is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to support our Lafayette operation. This role partners closely with leaders and employees, providing hands-on HR support in a fast-paced operational environment.
The HR Generalist will serve as a key resource for employee relations, workplace investigations, attendance, onboarding, engagement, benefits, staffing, and other workforce needs.
What You’ll Do
- Partner with supervisors, managers, and employees across second-shift operations.
- Manage employee relations matters, including investigations, conflict resolution, coaching, and corrective action.
- Provide guidance on HR policies, employment practices, attendance, leave, and workers’ compensation.
- Support employee engagement, retention, and workforce effectiveness initiatives.
- Assist with onboarding, recruiting, staffing, and benefits administration.
- Maintain accurate employee records and utilize HR systems and reporting tools.
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and compliant workplace culture.
- 3–5 years of HR experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with employee relations, workplace investigations, and conflict resolution.
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills.
- Sound judgment and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive matters.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with HR technology and business systems.
- Experience with Workday, Kronos, or other HRIS platforms.
- HR experience within operations, logistics, manufacturing, distribution, or automotive environments.
- Knowledge of leave administration, workers’ compensation, and attendance management.
- Experience supporting frontline leaders and hourly employees.
