Responsibilities
- Lead the installation, configuration, and maintenance of telecommunication systems including CCTV, fiber optic cabling, Ethernet networks, Cisco routers, Juniper equipment, and VoIP systems.
- Perform fiber splicing and cable management using power tools and hand tools to ensure robust network infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot and repair telecommunication equipment utilizing schematics, electrical diagrams, and testing tools such as ohmmeters.
- Conduct field service visits to diagnose issues with network installation or equipment malfunctions at various sites.
- Manage network security protocols and ensure compliance with NEC (National Electrical Code) standards for low voltage wiring and telecommunications infrastructure.
- Support data center operations by maintaining computer hardware, network switches, and server connectivity to ensure optimal performance.
- Provide exceptional customer service by communicating technical information clearly to clients and team members while coordinating repairs or upgrades efficiently.
Requirements
- 3 years of DoD or FAA ATC systems experience (USAF, Army, or FAA preferred)
- Proficient in Heliax and coaxial cable installation and termination
- Familiarity with communications consoles and ATC ground-to-air radio systems
- Able to obtain access to Fort Rucker (background check required)
- OSHA 10 or 30 preferred; valid driver's license required
- Able to work independently and lead a 2-person team on-site
- Proven experience as a service technician or lead in telecommunications or IT environments with a focus on network installation and maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of computer networking concepts including LAN (Local Area Network), Ethernet cabling (Cat5/Cat6), and telephony systems such as Avaya or similar platforms.
- Hands-on experience with fiber splicing, cable management, and low voltage electrical wiring adhering to NEC standards.
- Familiarity with Cisco routers, Juniper networking equipment, VoIP technology, and schematics interpretation.
- Ability to operate power tools, hand tools, and electrical testing devices safely and effectively in various field settings.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical solutions clearly to diverse audiences.
- Electrical experience combined with knowledge of telecommunication standards is highly preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel for field service assignments as needed.
