POSITION: Barbering Adjunct Instructor

Job Summary

The Adjunct Instructor is responsible for fostering student learning by providing high-quality classroom instruction. The Instructor must strive for continuous improvement of the curriculum, learning activities, and instructional resources to ensure student success. In addition to instructional duties, the Instructor will also be fully involved in the institutional planning process and developing the goals and objectives of the assigned academic department. This position will be housed and taught at the Hanceville and Oneonta campuses.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An associate degree with a Barbering Instructor License or equivalent from a regionally accredited institution is required.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of successful full-time experience as a practitioner in the field of Barbering is required.
  • Must have demonstrated competence in each area of instruction; teaching experience at the college level preferred.
  • Must be proficient in curriculum development, instruction, student evaluation, and advising, and have knowledge and experience with a variety of instructional methods and strategies.
  • Must be skilled in the use of instructional technologies to enhance learning and must be able to adapt to and incorporate new and emerging technologies.
  • Experience with distance learning technology and practice is preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrate and maintain a high level of competence and expertise in the teaching field or subject area.
  • Develop, implement, and teach courses that are designed to meet individual student needs and ensure an effective learning experience.
  • Evaluate and record student performance and achievement in a timely manner and provide prompt feedback to students and the administration in order to assure learning outcomes are met.
  • Participate as a contributing faculty member of the College, including participating in planning long-range and short-term goals for the department and College, as well as maintaining regular office hours and participating in faculty meetings.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned, required, or directed by the College. The College reserves the right to assign additional tasks and to alter or reassign job duties as necessary to meet business and operational needs.
  • In order to perform these essential functions, the Instructor must be present at work. Therefore, attendance is an essential job function.

SALARY: Adjunct instructors are generally paid a flat rate of $725 per credit hour taught when the class meets minimum enrollment requirements. Classes that do not meet minimum enrollment requirements may be compensated on a pro rata basis or canceled at the discretion of the College. Selected classes may be compensated on an hourly basis based on contact hours rather than credit hours.

Letter(s) must include employment dates and job title and be on official letterhead with an authorized personnel signature.

(5) Separate transcripts from each college attended (photocopies will suffice until employed)
