As an ENR Top 500 Design Firm, WM’s staff of Professional Engineers, Planners, Surveyors, Technicians, Construction Inspectors, and Support Personnel work on a diverse portfolio of projects involving highways, bridges, transit facilities, water resources, utilities and water & wastewater facilities.

Wallace Montgomery is seeking a Water Resources engineer, with at least 8years of professional experience, to work in our Fairfax or Richmond, Virginia office. This individual will be exposed to a variety of project types, providing opportunities for personal and professional growth. 

Project Managers provide technical supervision and management of projects assigned to them.  They also provide design/design oversight for major tasks within projects which are managed by others.  Project Managers are required to provide input into preparation of the proposals, budgets, and schedules for new project opportunities.  They manage production profitability; implement quality control procedures and liaison with clients.  Project Managers may also serve as Project Team Leaders directing day to day technical requirements of staff.  It is expected that a Project Manager will work as required to meet the needs of their projects.  This may include time outside normally scheduled work hours.

Essential Functions:   

  1. Supervise activities of multiple technical professionals such as engineers/planners/scientists/technicians, project teams and subconsultants.
  2. Perform duties necessary to develop project documents and/or reports in accordance with appropriate standards.
  3. Participate in presentations such as public meetings and interviews.
  4. Monitor compliance with scope of work.
  5. Implement quality control/quality assurance procedures.
  6. Develop and manage project schedules and budgets.  Initiate corrective action as necessary.
  7. Assist Associates and Partners in financial management duties as requested.   
  8. Perform/monitor project filing and archiving to ensure project records are maintained in accordance with company policies.
  9. Provide training and guidance to others. 
  10. Monitor current trends/methodologies related to their area of expertise to ensure that the company remains up to date with software, training needs and similar issues.   
  11. Manage projects, including development of project deliverables
  12. Participation in the procurement of work opportunities.
  13. Provide service in professional societies and attend meetings.
  14. Serve as a mentor for young professionals.
  15. Facilitate coordination across technical disciplines within the firm.
  16. Promote the firm’s expertise and provide liaison with clients, in a manner to establish and gain confidence and trust.
  17. Assist Associates and Partners, as requested.
  18. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field 
  • Professional Engineering License required (VA preferred)
  • 8-10 years' experience 
  • VDOT experience preferred.
