Leadership Competencies

The Successful Candidate Will Demonstrate

Accountability: Takes ownership of district results and follows through on commitments.

Coaching: Develops employees and builds a strong pipeline of future leaders.

Business Acumen: Understands financial performance, portfolio risk, and operational efficiency.

Communication: Provides clear direction and maintains productive relationships with employees and leadership.

Integrity: Upholds ethical business practices, customer confidentiality, and regulatory compliance.

Adaptability: Responds effectively to changing business needs and performance challenges.

Work Environment and Travel

This position requires regular travel between assigned branch locations, with occasional overnight travel depending on district geography. The Area Supervisor must be comfortable working in branch environments, conducting on-site reviews, meeting with employees, and responding to operational needs. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required, subject to company policy.

Overall Responsibility

The Area Supervisor is accountable for developing a high-performing district in which each branch operates efficiently, employees are properly trained and supported, customers receive professional service, and business objectives are achieved while maintaining compliance, sound lending practices, and the standards of Wallace Finance Companies.

Recommended additions before finalizing

For a stronger internal job description, I would clarify three things:

Authority: Whether the Area Supervisor directly manages branch managers, approves personnel decisions, and has authority over hiring, discipline, and terminations.

Travel expectations: Whether the role requires daily travel, weekly branch visits, or overnight stays.

Performance accountability: Whether the role is measured primarily on loan growth, collections, profitability, delinquency, or a balanced scorecard.

I would also recommend keeping the 10'15 stores and 20'30 employees explicitly in the position description. That establishes the scope of responsibility and helps distinguish this position from a single-branch manager role.
