The Wallpaper Printing Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining
printing equipment used in the production of residential and commercial wallpaper
products. This role ensures that all printed materials meet quality specifications with respect
to color accuracy, print registration, pattern alignment, and substrate integrity. The Operator
works within a fast-paced manufacturing environment and collaborates closely with quality
control, design, and production planning teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Set up and configure digital, gravure, flexographic, or screen printing equipment according to
job specifications and production schedules.
- Load and thread substrates (paper, vinyl, fabric) onto printing machinery, ensuring proper
tension, alignment, and feed.
- Input and adjust print parameters including color profiles, ink density, speed, and registration
settings using control software or manual calibration.
- Monitor ongoing print runs for consistency in color accuracy, pattern repeat, and print quality;
make real-time adjustments as needed.
- Perform routine equipment maintenance including cleaning printheads, replacing ink
cartridges or rolls, and lubricating mechanical components.
- Conduct pre-production checks and test prints to verify output meets approved proofs and
client specifications.
- Identify and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, substrate defects, or print quality issues;
escalate unresolved issues to maintenance or supervision.
- Accurately document production data including job numbers, material usage, waste,
downtime, and output quantities.
- Follow all company safety procedures, including proper handling of inks, solvents, and
chemicals in accordance with SDS/MSDS guidelines.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with 5S standards and OSHA
regulations.
- Coordinate with the quality control team to inspect finished rolls and flag non-conforming
product for review or rework.
- Support new product trials, color matching exercises, and substrate testing under the
direction of the production supervisor.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret job tickets, production schedules, and technical
specifications.
- Basic mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform minor equipment adjustments and
troubleshooting.
- Color perception ability sufficient to distinguish subtle variations in hue, saturation, and tone.
- Proficiency with computer-based machine controls and production management software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a production environment.
