This position is an in-person role in our Madison, WI office and will have limited remote work opportunities.


Most advisory roles ask you to start from scratch — prospect, grind, and hope you build something over a decade. This one is different. At Walkner Condon, you'll step directly into relationships with the established clients of our two managing partners, serving households who have been with us for years and who stay with us because we earn it. Our tenure and retention speak for themselves.


We're a fee-only, fiduciary RIA based in Madison, Wisconsin, managing money for more than 200 households. We work on an assets-under-management model, and we intend to stay that way. Our Managing Partners, Clint Walkner and Nate Condon, carry a wide range of responsibilities across the firm (we also co-host the Gimme Some Truth podcast and have been recognized among the top wealth advisors in our state). We need a sharp, capable advisor to work alongside us and our team member Polly — someone who can take real ownership of client relationships and grow with the firm.


What you'll do


You'll work directly with the clients of the managing partners, partnering closely with an experienced advisor as you learn our approach and earn your stripes. Day to day, that means:


  • Managing client portfolios with a thoughtful, disciplined investment approach
  • Leading and supporting client relationships — in meetings, on the phone, and in the planning work behind the scenes
  • Bringing real depth on tax management and integrating it into the advice you give
  • Helping clients navigate executive compensation, including restricted stock units (RSUs) and stock options
  • Contributing to our digital marketing — writing blog posts, appearing on our Gimme Some Truth podcast, and helping grow our presence on social media
  • Collaborating with our team to keep our service standard high and our clients loyal for the long run


Who you are


You bring genuine investment and portfolio management skill, and you pair an analytical mind with real warmth. You're someone clients trust on sight — friendly, empathetic, and comfortable in front of people. You're curious by nature, you like to learn, and you use technology and AI tools to make yourself better and faster at your work rather than treating them as a threat.


We're looking for someone with:


  • Multiple years of industry experience, ideally from a strong RIA background — or a clear desire to work at a fee-only firm
  • A CFP® or CFA (strongly preferred)
  • A definite focus on tax management woven into financial planning
  • Knowledge of executive stock option planning, including RSUs and options
  • Experience in the Schwab ecosystem (a meaningful plus)
  • A knack for content and social media — comfortable with writing, willing to appear on a podcast, and building a presence online is a real plus
  • A work ethic that's ready to earn its stripes, paired with the temperament to thrive in a tight-knit, high-trust team
