Accountable for these results:
- Reliable assistance and backup to the WSI Distribution Manager
- Safe and timely opening of the warehouse
- Safe and timely closure of the warehouse
- Supervision of Warehouse Operators as directed by the Distribution Manager – and formal direction in his absence
- Management of inbound and outbound freight as directed by the Distribution Manager
Responsibilities:
- Oversees, coordinates, and may perform the activities of the warehouse staff that is responsible for:
- Operating forklifts and pallet jacks to unload product from trucks; Inspecting products received for damage.
- Picking, packing, labeling, wrapping, and loading orders onto trucks.
- Storing products received into appropriate storage bins and recording locations.
- Ensuring that the picking area always has picking stock available.
- Assisting in the completion of the monthly physical inventory.
- Repacking products for special orders and to recover good products from slightly damaged cartons.
- Preparing dummy shippers to account for products sent to trade shows.
- Maintaining forklifts;
- Performing basic warehouse cleaning activities and minor maintenance tasks.
- Performs a variety of supervisory duties to improve warehouse efficiency which involves assigning work to staff members; checking work in progress to ensure accuracy and timely completion; training staff members as necessary; and providing technical guidance.
- Enters into the computer system all transfers of products from inventory into the picking area daily.
- Ensures the accuracy of every order that is shipped which involves:
- Printing out the bill of lading;
- Checking all quantities and product codes before the order is shrink- wrapped;
- Generating bar coded shipping labels and attaches to the order; Entering codes into the computer system;
- Informing customers via email of orders being shipped and providing additional information, e.g. estimated delivery time, number of pallets, etc.
- Maintaining a personal log of all orders shipped.
- Notifies office personnel of damaged goods received as the basis to file a claim with the trucking company.
- Contacts trucking companies to arrange for product pickups. Recommends carriers to the Distribution Manager.
- Checks all incoming products for damage. Organizes and oversees repacking activities as needed. Notifies appropriate personnel of any damage noted.
- Completes a monthly physical inventory count by counting products in the warehouse and investigating overages or shortages by reviewing billing and shipping records. Performs a daily physical update of product counts.
- Opens the facility every morning which involves disabling alarms and unlocking doors.
- Fills in for the Distribution Manager and the Custom Products Shipping Manager as needed.
- Leads all neccessary training
