About Walker's Crew Change
Walker’s Crew Change is looking for a highly dependable driver to join our busy transportation team and the base for this driver position will be located in Paducah, KY. We provide ground transportation for maritime crews along the Gulf Coast and inland waterways when they are between crew schedule changes.
Role Overview:
Our drivers transport maritime crews to and from their destinations, which may include airports, hotels, or other vessels. You will be the face of Walker’s Crew Change, ensuring timely and accurate pickups with friendly, clear communication to the passengers. This role requires flexibility, as dispatches vary in timing and distance. We strive to provide advance notice for all trips, but some crew change requests offer limited notice to the driver.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely transport maritime personnel to assigned locations.
- Confirm trip details with boat crews and boat after the transport request is dispatched (usually the day prior).
- Use Google Maps and other navigation apps effectively.
- Maintain professionalism and represent Walker’s Crew Change positively.
Position Details:
- Pay is based on miles driven and includes compensation for wait times exceeding one hour. (This is not an hourly paid job. We pay based on how many miles are driven.)
- Work hours vary, including early mornings, late nights, and trips that may span several hundred miles.
- The driver will be on-call every business day. It's assumed that the driver is available unless the driver has asked for time off or if the run request is at night or on the weekend.
Requirements:
- Must live within the Paducah, KY area (close to airport and riverways)
- Must possess a Transportation Worker Identification Card (T.W.I.C.)
- Valid driver’s license
- Must have and maintain a clear driving record and be insurable through our automobile insurance carrier
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check for insurance purposes
- Smartphone proficiency (Google Maps, email, and texting)
- Knowledge of inland waterways is a plus
- Experience of maritime transport highly preferred
- Candidate must be 25 or older to be covered under company insurance
- Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with passengers with a friendly and professional demeanor
