Walker Lambe, PLLC, a Durham-based law firm, is seeking a legal assistant to join our Estate Planning team. We are looking for a highly motivated, organized, detail-oriented legal assistant to joint our Estate Planning team.
This Legal Assistant will have the opportunity to play an important role in helping prepare documents for our Estate Planning team. Additional job duties include interacting and building relationships with our clients in person and over the telephone, keeping accurate case project management notes, providing consistent communication with clients regarding their matter, and preparing documents for signing appointments. This position requires the combination of attention to detail, strong work ethic, high-level client service mentality, teamwork, time management, managing deadlines, active listening, attention to instructions, and resourcefulness.
The ideal candidate will have excellent attention to detail and organization, strong word processing skills, have an ability to relate with people who have a lot of questions, a good sense of humor and professionalism.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Drafting letters and legal documents using appropriate templates and forms
- Assuring attorney has all needed documents for client meetings
- Calculating deadlines and ensure deadlines are not missed by setting calendar reminders for themselves and assigned attorneys to complete tasks and deadlines
- Maintaining forward progress on each case and reporting progress on a weekly basis during progress meetings
- Scanning, mailing, calendaring, and scheduling
- General office filing and organizing
- Additional duties as assigned
Qualified candidates must have:
- Positive attitude
- Pro-active personality
- Excellent proofreading, communication skills, both written and verbal
- Microsoft Outlook, Word - 3 years experience
- 2 years office experience preferred.
