JOB TITLE: ISS Aide
HOUR STATUS: Non Exempt 187 days
PAY GRADE: CP2
REPORTS TO: Principal

PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Supervise students assigned to In-School Suspension (ISS) program for disciplinary reasons. Work under the general supervision of the principal and immediate direction of a certified teacher.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Must have one of the following:
48 hours of college credit, or Associate's Degree or higher, or
HS or GED with Region 12 Paraprofessional Academy certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to work well with children
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions Ability to use personal computer
Experience:
One year experience as classroom aide.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Work with certified teacher and campus administrators to provide an environment for students removed from their classroom.
Manage student behavior and administer discipline according to board policies, administrative regulations, and Individual Education Plans (IEP).
Work with individual students to complete assignments given by classroom teacher.
Consult classroom teachers regarding student assignments.
Supervise students assigned to ISS program (in-school suspension) during lunch and bathroom breaks.
Assist in supervising students during the school day, both inside and outside the classroom, including lunchroom and bus duty.
Assist with office clerical duties as needed. Maintain confidentiality.
Perform other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Mental Demands: Reading; ability to follow instructions (written and verbal), communicate effectively, use personal computer, and maintain emotional control under stress.
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Moderate standing, stooping, and bending.
