Responsibilities
- Operate dump trucks with manual transmission safely across various routes, ensuring adherence to traffic laws and company policies.
- Load and unload materials efficiently, utilizing equipment such as forklifts or roll-off trucks when necessary.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, checking for mechanical issues, fluid levels, and safety features.
- Follow designated routes to deliver freight promptly while managing route driving challenges effectively.
- Maintain accurate logs of deliveries, mileage, fuel consumption, and maintenance needs.
- Communicate clearly with dispatchers and site personnel to coordinate delivery schedules and address any issues promptly.
- Assist with additional tasks such as operating refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, or tanker trucks depending on project requirements.
Skills
- Proven experience in truck driving, particularly with dump trucks, tractor-trailers, or roll-off trucks.
- Strong knowledge of manual transmission operation and vehicle safety protocols.
- Ability to load & unload freight efficiently using appropriate equipment like forklifts or other material handling tools.
- Familiarity with route driving, freight delivery procedures, and traffic regulations.
- Experience working with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or other specialized freight is a plus.
- Excellent driving record with a focus on safety and compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) standards.
