Director of Career Services

Waldorf University, located in Forest City Iowa, is seeking interested and qualified candidates for the position of Director of Career Services. The Director of Career Services provides career-related guidance to all students, residential and online, along with Waldorf Alumni. Assistance is provided to groups and individually. In collaboration with faculty, staff, alumni, and employers, the director plans and hosts classroom presentations, workshops, and events that provide students with opportunities to learn about career-related topics, practice job search skills, and network with recruiters about internships and jobs. The director builds relationships with employers to increase internship and employment opportunities for students and graduates. In addition, he/she compiles information for assessment and accreditation, and reports graduate career outcomes.

This position reports to the Director of Retention and is part of the Student Success Team. Ideal candidates will possess a minimum of a bachelor's degree, masters degree preferred; have 3 years of human resource management or program development experience; experience and interest with event planning and public speaking; verbal and listening skills; high quality writing and proofreading skills; someone who appreciates service, direct involvement, and a commitment to the development and welfare of students

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Meets with residential students in the classroom, through workshops and presentations, or on an individual basis to discuss career exploration, internships, resume and cover letter writing, job search strategies, interviewing techniques, and graduate school.
• Communicates with online students and Waldorf alumni on an individual basis via email, phone, or Skype to assist with resume and cover letter writing, job searching, and career-related questions.
• Creates educational handouts and presentations. Writes informational pieces for newsletters and the Waldorf University website.
• Builds relationships and networks with employers via phone, email, and on or off campus visits. Assists employers, students, and alumni in making connections.
• Distributes information about career-related opportunities via bulletin boards, email, social media, Waldorf website, and through classroom visits.
• Collaborates with faculty, staff, alumni, and employers to plan and host several career-related workshops and events each year.
• Plans events and day trips to off-campus career fairs and graduate school days; serves as student chaperone.
• Surveys recent residential graduates using Qualtrics software. Compiles results and reports graduate career outcome statistics to faculty, staff, and administration. Collaborates with Marketing Department on creation of marketing materials.
• Compiles and provides information to faculty and staff for assessment, accreditation, and various other reasons.
• Leads Internship Compliance Committee to review unpaid internship proposals from Waldorf departments.
• Participates as a member of professional organizations to network, learn best practices, and keep abreast of changes in the industry.
• Manages departmental budget in the best interest of students and the University.

Salary : $60,000 - $100,000
