POSITION SUMMARY:
The Membership Director is responsible for overall supervision and leadership of membership operations for Waldo County YMCA. The Director is responsible for revenue and membership growth/retention, fiscal management for membership, financial development, facility cleanliness, hiring, training and supervision of membership staff. The position is responsible for demonstrating YMCA leadership competencies to ensure the mission, purpose, image and core values of the Waldo County YMCA is conveyed. Responsible for supervising direct reports, including: Membership Service Coordinator, Front Desk Staff.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Hands on Supervisor of all aspects of Membership Department including, strategy, recruiting, hiring, training, supervision, evaluation, budgeting.
- Create positive, customer-focused culture among membership service staff
- Contribute to the staff as a member of the WCY team
- Understand the values of the WCY community and contribute to enhancing the WCY brand
- Extend the value of Waldo County YMCA membership throughout Waldo County
- Oversee Financial Aid and scholarships
- Oversee member recruitment, sales, engagement, and retention
- Manage all membership transactions and oversee proper recording in WCY software
- Respond to member issues as they come up with caring, respect, honesty, and responsibility
- Provide useful monthly reports on membership and financial aid showing current numbers and trends
- Represent and promote the WCY in the local community. Maintain excellent relationships with local organizations and businesses
- Collaborate with team to develop pricing and marketing strategies to meet these targets
- Initiate program ideas that would add value to membership and collaborate with department directors to bring them to life
- Collaborate with fundraising team to identify donors and create a culture of philanthropy among members
- Lead team to develop and implement a plan to increase membership referrals from local realtors and doctors
- Willing to work some early mornings, evenings, and weekends
- Serves on Leadership Staff
- Works closely with program directors and marketing department
- Other duties as requested by CEO
Job Title: Membership Director
QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 18 years or older & possess a high school diploma or GED. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field preferred.
- Three years customer service and/or sales experience required.
- Proficient in or willing to learn Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Daxko, Website user experience
- Minimum of three years’ experience creating, implementing and managing high quality and large volume membership programs.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in a supervisory role with skills in recruiting, training and staff management.
- Self-motivated, hands on team leader with strong communications, networking and collaboration skills.
- High level of attention to detail and quality of service and facilities. Demonstrated commitment to high standards of customer service.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage several projects at once and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Polished, professional demeanor with excellent written and spoken communication skills.
- Demonstrated success in driving revenue and managing expenses.
- Experience in fundraising: identification of potential donors, individual gift solicitation and cultivation preferred.
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use a computer for extended periods of time and be able to communicate using a computer and phone/smart device.
The employee frequently is required to sit and reach, and must be able to move around the work environment.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
