Walden is a special community with a luxury country club, 5 diamond Inn, and Spa in Aurora, OH. Walden is focused on many elements of hospitality. Walden will be creating a boutique market for our members and local patrons to engage with northeast Ohio's finest culinary scene on a daily basis.

Walden is opening a market featuring local Ohio products and high-end culinary items that are featured at our fine dining establishment “The Barn”. “The Barn” is Ohio’s oldest Dining Clubs that will be branching off and have a public market. The “Walden Market” will be in the lower level of the refurbished 210-year-old barn that will be a place for the finest butcher counter, homemade items, cheese selections, bakery, seasonal produce, and locally sourced dairy and merchandise. This boutique and lower volume shopping experience needs a Shopkeeper that is willing to learn about all facets of food. Critical will be creating a hands-on experience that will tailor a customer experience for someone looking to explore real butchery and prepared foods. They will also be curated wines and beers section that will complement the items sourced for the market.

The duties of the Shopkeeper will be opening and closing the shop, 11am to 6pm Tuesday-Saturday each week, serving as the cashier and checking out customers, while guiding them through the shopping experience. Presentation of the market items will be essential to the marketing of them. We are looking for a “jack of all trades” that likes people and can provide a warm greeting and a fond farewell. Additionally, you will be working with the chefs “The Barn” to keep the market stocked and well presented. Presenting daily rotation of prepared goods and butcher cuts are moved in and out of the space for freshness and pick of the moment philosophy. The opportunity to share the market with the world via social media will be a plus as well.

This shop is small by grocery standards so as Shopkeeper you will wear many hats and must absorb knowledge from all food departments and merchandise. Experience

• Proven management experience in retail or grocery store environments with a focus on managing daily operations
• Strong background in retail math, sales management, merchandising, and inventory control techniques
• Hands-on experience with POS systems, cashiering, cash handling procedures, and store management software
• Prior experience in retail sales roles such as sales or grocery stores is advantageous
