Quality Engineer Job Description
Job Title: Quality Engineer
Job Summary
This role is responsible for ensuring products and processes meet established quality standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations. This position develops and implements quality control systems, conducts inspections and audits, and analyzes data to identify areas for improvement. The Quality Engineer collaborates with cross functional teams- including production, engineering, and supply chain- to resolve quality issues, drive root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventative actions.
Duties and Requirements of the Job
· Analyze production limitations and problems with the implementation of revisions.
· Ensure adequate and continuous control over all assigned activities affecting quality.
· Designs and installs quality controls process sampling systems, procedures, and statistical techniques.
· Designs specific testing mechanisms, equipment, and devices.
· Reviews and organizes statistical data on quality of production by line, shift, department, among other ways, to produce recommendations.
· Formulates or assists in formulating quality standards, policies, programs, plans, procedures, and practices.
· Reviews and implements specification revisions.
· May train hourly and exempt staff in quality applications.
· Continuously reviews the economics of the quality program and makes recommendations.
· Performs such individual assignments as supervisors and superiors may direct.
· Ensures adequate and continuous controls are exercised over all assigned activities affecting quality.
· Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the Corporation and the community.
· Maintains all the professional competence, knowledge, and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
Required Training, Knowledge and Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in applied sciences is preferred (equivalent experience, including a proven performance record as a technician may be accepted)
· 3 to 5 years of progressive experience
- In depth knowledge of area of specialty including applied and developmental knowledge of a complex technical area
- Experience in testing systems and machines
- Effective written and verbal communication
- Proficient use in software programs such as Microsoft Office
- Some technical training or courses
- Good analytical and creative problem-solving skills
- Ability to use tools and techniques to perform tests
- Ability to read technical data and specifications
