Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Fleet Dispatcher for the 2nd shift to coordinate and manage vehicle operations within our transportation network. Duties
- Coordinate daily dispatch of vehicles using transportation management systems and vehicle dispatch software to meet delivery schedules efficiently.
- Monitor GPS and GIS data to track vehicle locations, optimize routes, and respond swiftly to any delays or issues.
- Communicate effectively with drivers via multi-line phone systems and internal communication channels to provide instructions, updates, and support.
- Manage freight shipments, shipping & receiving processes, and ensure timely delivery while adhering to DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations.
- Maintain accurate data entry in logistics systems such as McLeod.
- Handle phone call management professionally by providing clear information, addressing inquiries promptly, and maintaining excellent phone etiquette.
- Support internal communication efforts by relaying critical information between drivers and management.
- Assist with shipping documentation, freight tracking updates, and compliance reporting as needed.
- Conduct analysis of route efficiency and dispatching performance to identify areas for improvement.
Requirements
- Proven experience in road transportation operations or logistics coordination within a supply chain environment.
- Strong knowledge of transportation management systems such as McLeod.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) for data entry, reporting, and analysis tasks.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced setting.
- Strong communication skills—both verbal and written—and the ability to manage multi-line phone systems professionally.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations related to vehicle dispatching and driver hours of service compliance.
- Ability to analyze logistical data to improve fleet efficiency and route optimization strategies.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
