What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Registration Representative position at WakeMed Health & Hospitals?

Our Patient Registration Representatives are often the first face our patients see, and they play a key role in creating a welcoming, efficient, and supportive experience.
What You’ll Do:
As a Patient Registration Representative at our MyCare 365 locations, you’ll be the friendly face that greets patients, checks them in for appointments, and helps coordinate follow-up care. You’ll also:
- Accurately register patients by entering demographic and insurance information
- Collect copays and point-of-service payments
- Schedule appointments and assist with follow-up coordination
- Provide exceptional customer service in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Serve as a liaison between patients, families, providers, and the care team
- Support centralized welcome desks and check-in areas across our MyCare 365 and physician practice locations

What We’re Looking For:
- Availability to cover business hours, days, and holidays
- A passion for helping others and delivering top-tier service
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and stay organized in a busy clinical setting
- Comfort with computers and electronic health records (EHR)
- Previous experience in healthcare registration, scheduling, or customer service is a plus
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 1 year of customer service or administrative experience preferred
- Healthcare or medical office experience is a bonus
