Overview: The Nursing Professional Development Specialist, RN is responsible for assessing, planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating educational activities for nursing throughout the system, in all WakeMed facilities, as a systemwide provider of nursing continuing professional development. Responsible for facilitation of professional growth and development of staff and to meet the needs of the system in orientation and continuing education programs through promotion of ongoing competency and quality patient care. Works corroboratively throughout the system to support the mission of the organization and the division of nursing specifically. Responsible for both the application of theoretical principles of adult learning and the educational process in order to meet organizational, divisional and/or unit based goals especially as they relate to patient outcomes. Acts as a resource to hospital staff on multiple levels and in various capacities to insure adherence to professional standards, regulatory agency requirements, NC Board of Nursing mandates and organizational policies/procedures and protocols.
