Position Description
The Federal Work Study program provides need-based employment for college students. Work study positions are available on and off campus and are awarded based on financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Responsibilities and Duties (*Essential Functions)
Responsibilities and duties vary based on the assignment. Available Work Study opportunities can be found on the Financial Aid website. Duties may include but not limited to:
- Maintains a current and running inventory of all materials and replenishes supplies as needed
- Checks and cleans glassware for designated prep areas
- Conducts general maintenance and cleanup of all lab stations and other indicated areas
- Refills all water and cleaner bottles in labs
- Organizes supplies on the tables and student benches
- Prepares solutions for labs following supervisor’s instructions
- Assists with breakdown of previous lab to prepare for next lab, including wiping down all benches, tables, and equipment, putting away supplies according to supervisor’s instruction, and checking sinks for any debris to be discarded
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Strong organizational skills
Ability to lift at least 25lbs
Ability to work with minimum supervision
Basic knowledge of laboratory equipment
Understanding of basic lab safety
Ability to work in a safe manner and wear PPE when needed
