This time-limited, grant-funded role is essential to keeping our AmeriCorps VISTA program running smoothly. VISTA members tackle poverty and food insecurity by expanding food access, mapping data, engaging youth, and building stronger local food systems.

As The Administrative Coordinator, You Will

  • Manage the grant and ensure program compliance
  • Provide operational and administrative support to a dynamic team
  • Help create an environment where VISTA members can thrive in their service

About Our Team

At the heart of Wake County Cooperative Extension is a dedicated team of professionals rooted in youth development, food systems, and agriculture & natural resources. We connect the resources of NC State University and NC A&T State University with the needs of our community, supported by a strong volunteer network and a commitment to education, outreach, and collaboration. Our Community Food Systems team works hand-in-hand with schools, farms, nonprofits, and community organizations to strengthen local food systems and build capacity across Wake County.

Required

The Basics (Required Education and Experience)

  • Associate's degree
  • Two years of job-related experience
  • Equivalent education and experience are accepted
  • Please include ALL prior work experience on your application and resume.


Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)

  • Experience managing grants
  • Understanding of grant rules and regulations
  • Experience coordinating projects
  • Experience with budgeting and finances
  • Experience organizing events or meetings


How Will We Know You're 'The One'?

  • Considerable knowledge of the program area
  • Working knowledge of the principles and practices of public administration and business administration
  • Some knowledge of personnel policies and practices
  • Some knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in applying and interpreting policies and procedures
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, officials and the public

Employment Type: Regular

Work Schedule: 20 hours per week, schedule discussed at interview

Hiring Range: 26.16 - 31.99

Market Range: 26.16 - 37.81

Emergency Service Worker Statement

In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.
