What You'll Be Doing
Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) is a special supplemental nutrition program offered throughout Wake County. The WIC program is funded by the United States Department of Agriculture. WIC provides individualized nutrition counseling and group nutrition education, breastfeeding promotion and support, referrals for health care and other services and benefits for healthy food for eligible participants. We are currently recruiting for full-time WIC Nutritionist. The WIC Nutritionist identifies nutrition risks, provides nutrition counseling, and completes food prescriptions for WIC program participants; works closely with other program employees, including nutrition, breastfeeding and laboratory team members, and client services coordinators to ensure WIC services are effectively provided.
Determines program eligibility for applicants in compliance with federal, state and local guidelines and policies
Conducts nutrition assessment, provides nutrition education, determines plan of care, assigns client goals and food packages, and makes referrals to outside resources as appropriate to program participants
Consults with program employees, healthcare and social service providers to coordinate client care
Documents client information within electronic record at all WIC services locations, including prenatal and special infant care clinics
Assists with special projects and community outreach events
Participates in planning for and supervision of the public health field experience for students and interns
May conduct group nutrition education classes
Obtains anthropometrics as needed

The Basics (Required Education and Experience)
Bachelor's degree in Nutrition or related field
No specific experience required
Equivalent education and experience are accepted

Graduation from a Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) approved program
Dietetic Technician Registered (DTR)
Bachelor's degree in Foods and Nutrition

Work Schedule: 40 hr work week hours: Mon-Fri 8:30-5:15, 2 eve/wk until 7:00 PM, & 1 Sat per month 8:30-2:00
Hiring Range: 26.91 - 32.36
Market Range: 26.91 - 37.81
