POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Director of Malama Recovery Services, this position plays a pivotal role in the seamless operation of our training programs. This position assumes the responsibility for the day-to-day management of all training program activities, diligently overseeing and orchestrating the various aspects that drive our mission forward. In this multifaceted role, the Director of Training-SUD and CPM acts as the cornerstone of all training, orchestrating and executing the core functions, activities, and support structures that enable the effective development and education of both medical and behavioral health trainees. This encompasses an array of tasks and duties, all of which culminate in the cultivation of competent, compassionate, and well-rounded healthcare professionals who are qualified to treat these complex medical conditions (i.e., chronic pain, substance use disorders).


The core responsibilities of this role includes meticulously planning, coordinating, and implementing training programs that encompass a comprehensive spectrum of medical and behavioral health disciplines. These programs are designed not only to impart knowledge but also to inculcate the values, ethics, and empathetic approach that govern our organization. At the heart of this role is the mentorship and guidance provided to a diverse array of medical and behavioral health trainees, fostering their growth, development, and competence. This mentorship involves not only the transfer of knowledge but also the nurturing of skills, the cultivation of professionalism, and the instillation of a profound sense of duty toward the well-being of the individuals and communities we serve.


The Director of Training-SUD and CPM is responsible for maintaining a dynamic and responsive training environment. This includes ongoing assessments of training program effectiveness, the regular refinement of curricula, and the initiation of quality improvement measures. As a vital contributor to our organization's mission, the Director of Training ensures that we adhere to the highest standards of compliance and quality. This includes a comprehensive understanding of regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and the ethical principles that govern healthcare delivery. This person is a catalyst that propels the educational and clinical excellence of our organization. Their tireless dedication and commitment to the growth and development of trainees further solidify our position as a beacon of hope and healing for those affected by chronic pain and substance use disorders.


Education/Experience: 

1.  Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA-accredited University required

2.  Completion of internship required by degree

3.  One year of postdoctoral experience, supervised by a licensed psychologist 

4.  Possess and maintain an active, unrestricted Hawaii Psychology License  

5.  Certification as a Substance Abuse Counselor required (or must be working toward certification, certification must be acquired by 12 months of hire date)

6.  At least two years of experience managing a program required

7.  Current CPR certification and biannual maintenance required
