What are the responsibilities and job description for the Precision CNC Lathe Machinist (Haas Platform) position at WAI Global?
Your mission
Set up, program, and run Haas CNC lathes to produce precision components from metric drawings—while maintaining safety, efficiency, and top-tier quality.
What you will do
- Machine setup & operation: Configure tools and workholding, establish and verify offsets, and operate Haas CNC lathes for repeatable accuracy.
- Blueprint to part: Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD files; convert metric dimensions to imperial for programming and inspection.
- Programming & optimization: Create and refine CNC programs using G-code and CAD/CAM tools (Fusion 360, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Mastercam). Adjust parameters for material and thickness to improve cycle time and finish.
- Quality assurance: Inspect parts with calipers, micrometers, and gauges; confirm all dimensions and surface finishes meet spec.
- Maintenance & safety: Perform routine machine care; ensure equipment runs safely and efficiently.
- Collaboration: Partner with engineering and production to validate tooling safety and performance.
- Documentation & CI: Record programs, settings, and maintenance; contribute ideas to continuous improvement.
What you bring
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 3 years of CNC lathe setup and operation experience.
- G-code fluency and hands-on CAD/CAM capability (e.g., Fusion 360, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Mastercam).
- Strong grasp of mechanical drawings, tolerances, and materials.
- Proven ability to convert metric prints to inch-based machining.
- Haas control familiarity preferred.
- Excellent troubleshooting, precision, and attention to detail.
- Track record of working independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced setting.
