Wai`anae, Hawai`i. The Wai`anae Economic Development Council Business Development Program Manager is a full-time hybrid position, working both virtually and in-person on the Wai`anae Coast. The job may require occasional travel outside of the State of Hawai`i.

The Waianae Economic Development Council (WEDC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering economic growth, revitalization, and sustainability in the Waianae area. Our mission is to empower local businesses, promote workforce development, and support the community by providing resources, networking opportunities, and strategic partnerships.
RESPONSIBLE TO
The Wai`anae Economic Development Council Business Developer/Program Manager is responsible to the Executive Director of the Wai`anae Economic Development Council. The Business Development Program Manager supervises staff and monitors contractors assigned to the program.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Development & Implementation
- Assist in the development and delivery of business development instruction, training, consultations, and technical assistance programs.
- Plan and facilitate ongoing networking and training activities, including coffee hours, quarterly symposiums, workshops, and digital or televised content.
- Continuously improve program content and delivery through research, participant feedback, and community input.
- Conduct research, surveys, interviews, and focus groups to evaluate service effectiveness and identify emerging needs.
- Analyze data to inform strategic planning and recommend improvements to increase business success and participation.
- Actively contribute to fundraising and resource development initiatives to support the longevity of WEDC’s business programs.
Community Engagement & Relationship Building
- Cultivate strong partnerships with Waiʻanae Coast businesses, entrepreneurs, service providers, and community stakeholders.
- Represent WEDC at public events, networking opportunities, and industry forums to promote economic development efforts.
- Maintain and update directories of Waiʻanae Coast businesses and service providers (e.g., training, financing, legal).
Community Awareness & Advocacy
- Develop campaigns and initiatives to build community appreciation for entrepreneurship and economic development.
- Create promotional materials, media posts, newsletters, and televised/online content to showcase local success stories and WEDC impact.
Reporting & Communication
- Prepare monthly reports detailing program activities, business engagement metrics, and recommended improvements.
- Provide updates and strategic insights to the Program Director, President/CEO, Board of Directors, and external stakeholders.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education and experience
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, or a related field.
- A strong and demonstrated knowledge of and ability to work with the Wai`anae Coast and within Native Hawaiian community.
- Demonstrated understanding of what it takes to start, build, and grow a business in Hawaiʻi.
- Proven experience as a business development manager, program manager or similar role.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
